About PawCompare

Compare the actual cost of caring for your pet.

PawCompare is being designed to help UK pet owners compare like-for-like price information, understand ownership and select a practice before booking.

What PawCompare does

A more useful starting point than a search result.

Vet care is personal, but the practical questions before booking are often simple: what is published, who owns the practice and what are the options nearby?

Standardised prices

Compare routine care with the right context.

PawCompare brings together standardised published price information for routine services as it becomes available. That makes it easier to compare the same treatment across practices without treating unlike services as a direct match.

Ownership clarity

See who is behind the practice.

We show ownership information clearly, so independent practices and corporate groups are easier to identify while you compare.

Better shortlist

Keep the useful details together.

Use the comparison and profile view to narrow your options, then take the next step with the practice itself.

Why now

Price transparency is becoming easier to act on.

Planned CMA reforms and draft implementation documents indicate a more consistent approach to published price lists, service categories, ownership information and pet-size bands where prices vary.

Policy status — 3 September 2026: the substantive CMA Order and RCVS Undertakings remain draft implementation materials following the consultation that closed on 20 August. PawCompare is not approved by the RCVS and no official RCVS data feed is live here. We are designed to support the proposed standardised categories if and when final rules and data availability allow.

Source and methodology

What a PawCompare price label means.

Illustrative prototype data: fictional examples used to demonstrate the journey; never a quote or live practice price.

Practice-submitted data: information supplied by a practice, labelled with status and freshness.

Public practice data: information published by a practice, with its source and date shown where available.

Future official RCVS data: roadmap only, subject to final rules, an approval framework and data availability.

We only intend to compare prices where treatment, weight band and scope are comparable. Dental and neutering listings should identify relevant inclusions such as anaesthesia, pre-operative tests, pain relief, monitoring and checks. Benchmarks should show both local median and average with coverage limits. Prices are informational, not treatment recommendations or quotes.

How it works

Three steps to a more informed shortlist.

  1. 01

Start with your pet, treatment and area.

Choose pet type, weight band where relevant, treatment, then a postcode or town.

  2. 02

    Compare the details that matter.

Review comparable prices alongside ownership, data confidence and essential practice information.

  3. 03

    Take a better-informed next step.

Open a practice profile, make a shortlist and follow the available booking path when you are ready.

Trust and data principles

The labels matter as much as the listings.

A comparison is only useful when it is clear what you are looking at, where it came from and what it cannot tell you.

Comparable context

We present routine services in a standardised-price context, so you can focus on like-for-like information rather than trying to decode different formats.

Clear source signals

Where information comes from and when it was last checked should be visible, helping you understand what is ready to compare and what still needs confirming.

No paid rankings

A practice cannot pay to improve its position. Results follow the consumer-selected sort and comparable information only.

Information, not clinical advice

PawCompare does not diagnose, triage or recommend treatment. Your veterinary team remains the right place for clinical decisions about your pet.

Founder and mission

Built for pet owners who want a clearer view.

PawCompare was founded by Lewis Broughton with a simple mission: make it easier for pet owners to understand their options before they book.

We are building independently and putting the consumer journey first: clear information, honest signals about coverage and a practical route to the practices pet owners choose for themselves.

Ready to explore

Start with the practices near you.

Search by place and routine treatment, then use the comparison to build a more confident shortlist.
